Why is it that although we have been in Israel many years, we continue to be shocked about the naive and almost indifferent reaction of some Jews here to events which seriously affect their lives. Take for instance, the hatred of Jews and Israel, that Arafat, and the PLO are teaching the children in their schools, in their Media and in their homes. That serious problem is swept under the rug by our own Media. It just is not a "proper" subject for discussion, since those in control of the Jewish Media think that such an airing will adversely affect the "peace process." Nevertheless, no matter what the political or religious orientation of any Jew, the fact is that the possibility of Jews living in peace in this Land is seriously and explosively affected by such hateful teachings to young Arabs.
The facile explanation for ignoring this obviously bad situation is that there does not seem to be a ready solution to this serious problem. The Jews have returned to their ancestral home and made a neglected Land bloom again. This improved economic situation, apparently attracted many Arabs from surrounding countries to migrate here. Unfortunately the improved economic conditions of these Arabs was not accompanied by gratitude to the Jews. Such Arabs actively and irreconcilably resist living in the historic revival of a Jewish State. They have a long history of showing their antagonism through various acts of terror. Their leaders encourage them, calling such violence, acts of heroism and martyrdom.
To make matters worse, in addition to the problem caused by the presence of hostile Arabs within their midst, the Jewish Community is seriously divided among itself. A small, but powerful minority of mostly "Hellenistic" secular Jews, are tired of fighting Arab-initiated wars. They are being myopic in seeking to resolve the conflict in a one-sided manner.
Despite the loss of the Premiership to a large Jewish majority, the Labor minority whose tentacles still control the Israel Media, Army, Police and the Courts, have virtually abandoned their roots in Judaism and their Jewish Heritage. Thus they have no restraints from Jewish nationalistic or religious feelings, or their historical and Biblical ties to this Promised Land, in their quest for "peace" with the Arabs at all costs. Their overriding consideration of "peace at any cost," blinds them to the hard realities of Arab deceit.
Mankind has indeed thirsted for "peace" throughout the ages. It is a glorious objective, and a central and hallowed goal in the Jewish Religion. Realistically, it has never been achieved for any sustained period of time throughout history. The old-new Arab twist, to use Israel's thirst for "peace" as a tool to destroy Israel, is a device which Arafat tells us he learned well from Mohammed himself. The use of "Peace" to "destroy" is not new, but isn't it surprising that such a goodly number of our ancient people are being taken in by the insincere bait of peace, falsely promised to them by our Arab brethren.

WOMEN FOR ISRAEL'S TOMORROW
(WOMEN IN GREEN)
The security mini-cabinet convened this morning for its continued discussions on a second withdrawal from Judea and Samaria. Afterwards, the weekly government meeting dealt with the same issue. Diplomatic sources in Jerusalem estimate that Prime Minister Netanyahu will agree to a 15% withdrawal, on condition that it include the third withdrawal, that Arafat fight terrorism and that the Palestinian Liberation Organization charter calling for Israel's destruction be changed. Transportation Minister Shaul Yahalom said today that the National Religious Party would agree even to a 13% withdrawal.
