Shimon Peres demonstrates that political views are more related to
character than to facts. Given a personal character obsessed to be
more righteous than any biblical divinity, the resulting views are
correspondingly bizarre, going against necessities for defense and
long term self preservation. That is the lesson we may learn from
Peres's career. to prove this, just check out Peres's views as revealed
in a recent interview in the Jerusalem Post.

As always Yoram Ettinger writes a clear and well researched article. No one can improve on what he does. My complaint is more political and strategic. Most of us know about how important Israel is to America. That will never change the 100 years of hostility to Jews and Israel by the US State Department, CIA, NSA, Justice Department and especially the current White House.

1. Given all the facts enumerated below, why doesn't Ettinger NOT DEMAND that America treat Israel as a strategic ally and NOT "banana repuplic."

2. And more important, why have Israeli and Jewish leaders groveled before the US like the weak ghetto Jews of the past.

Back in pre WWll days Ze'ev Jabotinsky understood the strategic needs of the Jewish People both in Europe but also in Israel. His ideas harkened back to the great Israelite warriors who conquered Eretz Yisrael (Israel) during biblical times. Leaders like Joshua, David, The Maccabees, Shinshon, and Bar Kochba.He was silenced by the organized Jewish leadership. After his death in 1940 was maliciously barred from burial in Israel until Menachem Begin was elected in the late 1970's.

During, days still fresh enough for me to remember, new warriors emerged to fight for Israel. Though they had many flaws (we all do), people like David Ben Gurion, Menachem Begin, Avraham Stern, Ariel Sharon and Moshe Dayan and Yoni Netanayhu led the country to many victories on the battlefield. Others like Moshe Arens, Rabbi Meir Kahane zl and Herb Zweibon zl (AFSI) and Moton Klien (ZOA), Emanuel A. Winston fought their battles for Israel on the political front. Caroline Glick, Prof. Paul Eidelberg, Steven Plaut, Helen Freedman (AFSI), Nadia and Ruth Matar (Women in Green) have fought both on the ground and politically.

is difficult indeed since even Bret Stephens could
not chart a safe and secure path to such a future ..."

On Sunday, January 16, at the yearly OU convention, Bret Stephens, a
senior editor at Wall Street Journal, faced off against kippah wearing
David Makovsky, a former, journalist, now a member of some U.S.
affiliated, foreign policy think tank, on US policy concerning Israel.
(Makovsky would say his organization is independent but we know better
-- more about that later.)

Stephens was great. He presented in depth the why-s and wheres of
mistaken Obama policy on Israel. In general, Stephens observed that
the Arab side has over many prior decades shown no willingness to make
peace and isn't turning over a new leaf today; Israel should be wary
about letting its guard down since any tamping down of hostilities is
the result of Israeli actions and policies, not Arab; Obama yet
presses Israel to not build its communities on its lands beyond the
unofficial, so-called "green line" as somehow against peace; this
while the Arabs keep moving aggressively against Israel at every turn;
etc, etc.

"We hold these WikiTruths to be self-evident, that all countries (except for the Islamic Republic of Turkey) fear, even, a non-nuclear Iran, that they are all endowed by the United States of America with the right to survive . . .well, maybe at least until next week." There has been "shock and awe" that the Sunni Arab states of Saudi Arabia and Egypt are absolutely convinced, and actually "obsessively" fear that the Iranian/Persian Shiites intend to wipe these Sunni arab states out of existence as completely as Iran intends to wipe out the Israel. The reality and practical consequences of this simple WikiTruth axiom has far from settled into the rarified airs of Western policy elites. In fact, some ersatz journalists and pundits still write articles as if we still live in a pre-Wikileaks "reality."

To all the Sunni Arab States, Russia, and the entire West, the reality is that there really is a grave waxing Iranian threat. For the United States not to immediately recalculate all its foreign and order of battle security policy from this inescapable WikiTruth in 2010 is as "delusional" and fatal to world peace as was the belief that somehow Hitler wasnt a grave and imminent threat to world peace in 1939.

This WikiTruth of the Iranian/Persian Eastern threat has two immediate consequences that explain two otherwise unexplainable events: Firstly, Abbas "pre-condition" of a total Israeli settlement freeze, and secondly, Obamas euthanization, and proper burial of the "Peace Process." Two years ago, both were inconceivable, but today both are the undeniable reality.

Israel has been swept with Arab violence and terrorism since the late 19th century. Israeli Prime Ministers have tried but failed to stem the tide. Ariel Sharon, well know for his tough tactics in quelling terrorism in Gaza in the 70's, has also failed.

Back in 1965, in a small meeting room in Tel Aviv, former Defense Minister Moshe Dayan gave a pep talk to a group of RAFI (Rishimat Poalai Israel) volunteers, myself included. At that time, RAFI, a breakaway faction of the Mapai Party, included such notables as former Prime Minister David Ben Gurion and former Defense Minister Shimon Peres. Peres and Dayan had been considered the "hawks" of Mapai and it was no accident that in the 1965 election they supported a strong defense and security policy.

Dayan was always interesting to listen to, but this talk was something special and we paid attention to every word. "The essence of Israel's security in this region (Middle East) is deterrence," he said. "When we formed the State in 1948-9, we were very weak. The Arab States had planes, tanks, heavy artillery and many more soldiers than us.

We had very little heavy military equipment. In the period 1949-55, we absorbed almost a million immigrants. Tent cities sprung up all over the country. We were totally disorganized. Had the Arabs mounted another major invasion, we could have lost. We devised a solution to this problem. It was deterrence. Think about being lost in a forest and surrounded by hostile animals. If you light a torch, boldly approach them showing no fear -- they will retreat. But, if you show fear -- they will attack and you are lost. We used this principle to save Israel during those early years. Every time we were attacked, we retaliated ten fold. We showed daring and penetrated deep within their borders to attack our targets. We were fearless, brave, and even a bit bloodthirsty. You know the result. The Arabs were afraid and never attacked. Deterrence worked. By 1956 when we invaded Sinai, the Israel Defense Force was not just strong, it was invincible."

I am getting increasingly frustrated with the constant repetition of the same mistakes in Israel, year after year. Is there no learning curve for Israeli leaders, politicians, and lets face the Leftist public?

Why do we debate the obvious, like does the Land of Israel belong to us. Some other important questions:

1. Why do we negotiate with Abbas, Obama, the UN, the Eu, Egypt, Jordan or any other anti Israel nations, leader, or institutions. JUST SAY NO! They are all short change artists as I wrote about many years ago. Please read.

During my 23 years as owner of House of Books in Houston, I learned many valuable lessons. One in particular seems to have an application to the current situation in Israel. Let me explain:

In 1978, the store was victimized by a short change artist. One of my clerks was at the register when a well dressed gentleman approached with a paperback book costing $2.95. He gave her a $20 bill and then began a back and forth exchange of money. In the end, the bookstore lost about $60.
I called the Houston police department and requested that an officer come to the store and brief my employees on how to prevent this crime from happening again. The officer came and told us a little story. It seems that Johnny Carson once asked a short change artist to come to his show and try to fool him while he was fully alert to what was going down. The criminal had no problem and his skill marveled the audience.

MY PRAYER FOR ISRAEL ROSH HASHONA 5771

As I survey the fragile planet we call home, my mind makes note of the chaos, blood, and tears. The cries of a million lost souls shatter the night in a million corners of the earth. The sensitive, compassionate among them try to feed the hungry, heal the sick, clothe the naked. One by one their energies dissipate. They try to hold back the tide with a teaspoon and then see the impossibility of the task. The Jewish people are but a cosmic speck in this universe. To many Jews who feel deeply about their own people, that speck becomes the whole world. Other Jews are irrevocably tied to non-Jewish pursuits.

May we as a people open our eyes and begin to see the world as it really is. Without becoming depressed and morose, we must realize that there are powerful forces in the world that wish us ill. May we mobilize our strength to fight our enemies until they are defeated. May we not succumb to false prophets of peace. We all want peace. We pray for peace in our Sabbath services every Friday night.

After thousands of years, being victims of persecution, expulsion, extermination, and discrimination, it is natural that we yearn for peace with every ounce of our bodies and souls. It is because our hunger for peace is so strong that we must be doubly cautious not to fall for a pseudo-peace.

Today none of us believe Chamberlain really negotiated "peace in our time" with Hitler. Why do some Jews believe that Peres and Rabin really negotiated "peace" with Arafat, one of today's Hitlers? The Jewish people must learn the value of unity in the face of so many enemies who wish them ill.

1. Barak meets Abbas in Jordan.
Nothing to talk about. The only peace the Arabs can offer Israel is the Peace of the grave.
2. Lone Zionist at Anti-Israeli Rally.
That is good, but would it have been wrong to take a few friends along. And go undercover and bash a few heads. The Midrash tells us that it is Kosher to kill those who come to kill us. I am not saying this, Jewish Law says this.
3. Two terror suspects nabbed on flight from US.
The US, the World and Israel are responsible for terrorism by showing restraint in destroying it. Also by funding, fearing and appeasing terrorists. Late reports indicate the Dutch will release them.
4. Back Taxes May Stop Ground Zero Mosque.
Jews, Christians, Hindus and 9-11 victims should knock down the doors and sit in that place, like the Civil Rights Movement (1959-1966). Why wait for the IRS which is controlled by a Muslim President?
5. PA Prime Ministers Diplomatic War Against Israel.
My dear Lovers of Zion, this is Israels fault. Israeli must stop whining and do something. For example: blow up or jam the anti-Semitic radio and TV Stations. Arrest the Moslem preachers of hate and close their hateful schools. Stop funding anti-Jewish hate education. Stop funding PAs diplomatic hate campaign against Israel.
6. Shas Leader Rabbi Yosef: Build in All of Judea and Sameria.
Good advice. My advice to Rabbi Yosef: If the Israeli coalition does not follow your advice-WITHDRAW YOUR PARTY FROM COALITION AND BRING THIS GOVERNMENT DOWN. Dont fear for Israel, HaShem will be by your side.

Freeman Note: This is abrilliant analysis by Ettinger. I have always appreciated his wonderful insight into Arab-Israel-US issues. I have ONE complaint, not just for Yoram, but for most pro-Israel writers.

The Apocalypse is coming.

Those of us who understand what is really going on in the world must cease being "nice Jewish boys and girls."

1. We must stop promoting or even using the word peace or just peace settlement. It is fight or die. Learn this.

2. We must cease all dependence on the USA or its Moslem President to save Israel.

3. We must stop whinning about anti-Semitism and train ourselves, including youth to defend themselves.

4. An Israeli government that won't defend its citizens against Arab attack is not a Zionist government. When proud Jews in Israel defend themselves from Arab attack, the Israeli police, government, and justice system put them through hell. These people should not rule a Jewish State.

5. I am sick and tired of Israeli diplomats trying to win favor with
ant-Semites, who will never support us.

6. I am sick and tired of American Jews refusing to take a stand to protect their fellow Jews. But have some kind of wishy, washy Ghetto mentality. They don't have to please Moslems, Leftists, socialists, communists, white and black people who do not care about the best interests of the Jewish People. And I hate those Jewish ACLU lawyers who would call me a rascist because I speak truth to lies.

7. I am sick and tired of all the delay in destroying Iran's nuclear threat. I know how difficult it is. But I am also not stupid and I know that five years ago would it have been easier. I know that the Israeli government keeps making it harder for the military to accomplish its mission. My readers on the Freemanlist know why I say this. the proliferation of missiles from North Korea, Iran, Russia, and China to Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and back to Iran.

8. And by the way the terrorists on all Israel's borders must be annihilated. We, the Jewish People did not suffer for 2000 years SHOULD NOT lose our Eretz Yisrael, because we are nice Jewish boys and girls.

9. I am sick and tired of Barak and Peres still being involved in Israeli politics. They should have been retired long ago.

10. Ok I will stop my rant. My final word.

Now there are only a few elderly survivors of the Holocaust still alive and most wont/cannot speak out. They know from bitter experience that when government leaders become hostile to Jews, its dangerous to speak out in public. When some of us speak to elderly survivors and, if they trust you, you might hear something like this:

We know that, as in Germany in the 30s, the hate is growing in the nations as they need someone to blame for their money going bad and for the lack of jobs. We see clearly that President Barack Hussein Obama has a visceral dislike, even hatred, for the Jewish people. We know from experience and instinct that President Barack Hussein Obama has grown very close to the Muslim Arab nations and wishes to please them by acting hostile to Israel.

It has been reported on TV and in U.S. DEFENSE NEWS that several U.S. Aircraft Carrier Task Forces have been sent to position themselves off the coast of Iran in the Gulf of Hormuz.

I wondered: What was their mission? I also wondered about the practice take-off and landing sessions of U.S. and French aircraft on each others aircraft carriers. It sounds like a good idea if their likely targets are nuclear sites in Iran.

BUT, what if it wasnt? What if their alternate mission was to protect Iran from a pre-emptive or retaliatory strike by Israel on those Iranian nuclear sites?

What if their plan is as Zbigniew Brzezinski counseled President Barack Hussein Obama to shoot down Israeli aircraft in order to insure that Iran reaches full maturity in its nuclear capability?

Early reports from TV satellite feeds from the Muslim flotilla show six ships from Turkey, intending to run the naval blockade established by Israel to prevent any ships possibly carrying weapons from reaching the Hamas in Gaza. 600 mixed nationals were aboard the lead Turkish vessel, the Marmora. These so-called Islamic "activists" were intent on provoking a violent confrontation to be used in real time as a propaganda feed to the world media.

Some will recall other ships directly from Iran and Syria, flying false flags, that were intercepted by Israel bearing heavy military cargo bound for the Gaza Terrorists that comprise Hamas Paramilitary.

President Barack Hussein Obamas policy toward the Jewish Nation/State of Israel is ominously hostile. Some will recall that Adolph Hitler developed a plan to blame the Jews for Germanys economic collapse into Super Hyper Inflation.
Never mind the twisted logic that the minuscule population of Jews had mysteriously caused the Deutschmark to become worthless paper which was printed by the tonnage by Hitlers regime. The people were in pain over the governments mishandling of the economy and welcomed Hitlers demand to blame the Jews.
Presently, Obamas regime is similarly printing tonnage of green paper money while at the same time spending trillions America doesnt have. Someone must take responsibility for a proud nation in free-fall over the mortgage fiasco, initiated by Freddie Mac and Fannie May who pushed lending to poor voters who not only didnt have a credit rating but could never pay a monthly mortgage fee.

Many were in a welfare category which Obama understood very well as he was an experienced 'community organizer' who wanted indigent people to have a house paid for by working taxpayers - or the so-called rich who were already paying most of the nations taxes.

Obama and the Left Liberal Democrats needed voters in the black and Latino communities who would flock to unaffordable mortgages where somehow they wouldnt really have to pay. But, they were joyfully delighted to vote for a President who looked like them...one of their own...who promised to take the savings of those who worked and give it to the non-working poor. This was called "re-distribution of wealth".
